If you managed to make your way to this page, congratulations! You must be the new owner of a fancy Fortnite account. All of our accounts, unless otherwise stated in the account description, include the login information for the email currently connected to the Epic (Fortnite) account and the information for accessing the Epic account. In some cases the password for the email and the epic account may be the same, in other cases they may be different. Your first task after purchasing is to secure both the epic account information and the email account information associated with your epic account so that you are the only one able to access this account. Please read these instructions carefully if you have any questions regarding your account purchase. If these instructions don’t answer your question regarding your account purchase, contact us and we will be happy to help!
Securing your email account
Securing the email account information is just as important as securing your epic account information. Anyone with access to your email is able to recover and/or change the password to your Epic account at any given time. The steps for securing the account information will vary based off the email provider that is currently associated with your email account. The 3 providers we typically use are mail.ru, outlook.com, hotmail.com, live.com, or gmail.com. Hotmail.com, outlook.com, and live.com are all operated by the same provider and thus the instructions for securing emails from these 3 domains will all be the same. Please proceed to the section with the email provider currently associated with your epic account to begin the process of securing the email address.
This email provider is based out of Russia and thus their website is in Russian. Have no fear though! Logging in and changing the account password is simple, as we will outline with the following screenshots.
To begin, navigate to https://mail.ru
On the hompage, in the upper left-hand corner, you will see the following:
The first text box is where you enter your email login, and the second text box is for your password. Enter the mail.ru email information you were given in these boxes and press enter (or click the rectangular blue button) to login. Following login, you should be taken directly to your email inbox. If you receive another text box prompt after logging in, it is asking for your recovery email address, which is “email@example.com” (no quotes). Once you are logged in, enter the following URL in your address bar: https://e.mail.ru/settings/security.
On this new page, near the top, you will see the following:
Click the grey button and you will be prompted with the following window:
This is the window where you will initiate your password change. There are 3 text boxes in this window. The first text box is where you will enter your current password for the email account. The second and third text boxes are where you will enter the new password that you would like to have for the email account. The information you input in the second and third text boxes must be identical. Your password should be at least eight characters long, contain a minimum of one capital and one lowercase letter, and contain at least one number. If you do not meet these password requirements, your new password request may be rejected. Once you have entered your current password in the first text box and the new password in the second and third text box, click the rectangular blue button. This will change the password on your mail.ru email account.
If your account has a Yandex.ru email extension, you can access the english version of Yandex by visiting https://yandex.com instead of yandex.ru. Follow the steps outlined here to login and change your email account password. If present, we also recommend changing any security questions associated with the account and changing any recovery email addresses/phone numbers associated with the email as well.
Navigate to https://outlook.com. Login with the email account and password you were given. Follow the steps outlined here to change your email account password. If present, we also recommend changing any security questions associated with the account and changing any recovery email addresses/phone numbers associated with the email as well.
Navigate to https://gmail.com. Login with the email account and password you were given. Follow the steps outlined here to change your email account password. If present, we also recommend changing any security questions associated with the account and changing any recovery email addresses/phone numbers associated with the email as well.
Securing your Epic/Fortnite account
Navigate to https://epicgames.com/fortnite/login. Login using the Epic email and password you were given. Once logged in, navigate to https://www.epicgames.com/account/password. On this page you will be able to change the current password associated with your Fortnite account. Toward the bottom of the page, you will also see options to enable two factor authentication using either email authentication or an authenticator app. We recommend enabling two factor authentication for an extra layer of account security.
Linking your Fortnite account to a console
Once logged in to your Fortnite account, navigate to https://www.epicgames.com/account/connected. If the account currently shows that it is connected to a console, click the ‘Disconnect’ button below the console to disconnect any currently connected accounts. You can then click the ‘Connect’ button below your console to connect your new Fortnite account to your PS4, Xbox, or Nintendo Switch. Please note that an account can only be linked to a single PS4 throughout its lifetime, so it is possible your account may not be able to be linked to a PS4 at this time (whether or not an account is playable on PS4 should have been included in the account description when it was purchased).
Changing your Epic account contact and display information
Once logged in to your Fortnite account, navigate to https://www.epicgames.com/account/personal. On this page you will be able to change the name, display name, and region information for your Epic account. Note that your display name can only be changed once every two weeks. If it has been changed within the past two weeks, you will need to wait until you are able to initiate a new change.
